Gonarezhu National Park is situated in a remote corner on Zimbabwe’s south-eastern boarder with Mozambique and immediately south of the popular Eastern highlands and Chimanimani National Park. At ,5000km² the Zimbabwe’s second largest park, it is part of the greater Limpopo Transfrontier Eco System that combines Gonarezhou with Mozambique’s Limpopo National Park and South Africa’s Kruger National Park.Although most popular for her large herds of rather aggressive elephants, the park is also home to all the African Big-5 including lion, leopard, elephant, black rhino, white rhino and elephant as well as cheetah, hyena, giraffe, zebra, hippos and crocodiles as well as stunning scenery. Activities in the park include regular game viewing drives, walking where allowed, scenic tours around the cliffs on Chilojo, Mwatomba Pool and Makonde Pool as well as Runde River’s Chibilila Falls (600m wide/7m deep), the Pambazi River’sDuguvi Falls as well as exceptional birding.
